The Embassy conducts events to commemorate the ceremonies of significance of the great religions of Sri Lanka - Buddhism (Vesak), Hinduism (Thai Pongal), Islam (Iftar Festival) and Christianity (Christmas). These events have been attended by the Sri Lankan community residing in Belgium and friends of Sri Lanka, cutting across religious affiliation.

Thai Pongal Celebrations 2016
The Sri Lanka Embassy in Belgium hosted Thai Pongal Celebrations at the Ram Mandir Hindu Temple in Brussels. A large gathering of Sri Lankans of all communities participated. The Event commenced with a Pooja conducted in the Temple, preparations of Pongal rice and offering to the Gods in Thanksgiving. Ambassador. Rodney Perera addressed the gathering and welcomed the opportunity for Sri Lankans of all communities to gather together as one family to pray and share the traditional Pongal food. A lunch was hosted by the Embassy with traditional food served on such occasions.

Vesak Ceremony- May 2015
The Embassy of Sri Lanka organized a Vesak Ceremony with members of the Sri Lankan community in Belgium and Luxembourg in May 2015. Members of the Maha Sangha conducted the prayers which were followed by the offering of alms to the Buddhist clergy. Ambassador Rodney Perera addressed the gathering.
