The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brussels celebrated the Diwali festival on 05 November 2024, at the Sri Lanka Residence in Brussels, with the participation of the Sri Lankan community in Belgium and Luxembourg.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Belgium, Luxembourg, and the EU, Chandana Weerasena wished a joyous and prosperous Diwali festival to all Hindu devotees in Sri Lanka and beyond borders, and stated that it’s time that we aspired to light our souls to drive towards a prosperous Sri Lanka as we celebrate Diwali that symbolizes the victory of light over darkness, wisdom over ignorance, and good over evil. Ambassador Weerasena also conveyed the Diwali message of the President of Sri Lanka.
Rev. Swami Mishra Sathyanarayan conducted Hindu religious rituals and invoked blessings upon the participants. The ceremony was further enriched by the Tamil cultural songs sung by the Sri Lankan community.
The close of the event was marked by a Diwali dinner hosted by the Embassy.
