General Instructions
All applicants living in Belgium including children who apply for a Sri Lankan Passport must do so in person at the Consular Division of the Embassy with required documents. The Consular Division is open between 09.00 am and 4.00 pm. Prior appointments are not required.
Sri Lankans living in Luxembourg could courier their documents and make payments by direct bank transfer for consular services. Alternatively, they could come to Brussels and handover documents.
The Embassy forwards the applications to the Department of Immigration and Emigration, Colombo. Passports are issued by the Controller of Immigration & Emigration in Sri Lanka. If the application is correctly filled and all supporting documents are in order, the process will normally take around 5 to 6 weeks to issue a passport.
The Applicant should submit the originals of the required documents together with copies. The originals will be returned after perusal.
In the case of valid passports where all pages are exhausted, a new passport needs to be obtained. The old passport with valid visas if any will be attached to the new passport.

Passport fees should be paid in cash at the Embassy and an official receipt obtained. Do not send cash by post. The Embassy shall not accept responsibility for any loss of cash sent by post.
New passports will be issued only after cancellation of the current passport, which will be returned to the owner.
