With effect from 13th March 2006, Sri Lankan Passports are issued for a period of 10 years. Passports issued with five (5) years validity can be renewed up to a period of 10 years from the date of the first issue.
Validity of a passport which is over ten years from the date of issue cannot be further extended and the holder of such passport is expected to apply for a new passport.
Extension of validity of passports can be done on the same day, upon submission of the documents to the Embassy by the applicant.
Required documents:
- Current Passport
- Duly filled Form ‘O’- Form O-IM-37
- Valid original Resident Permit
- Sri Lankan National Identity Card
- Relevant fee
