The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Brussels celebrated Vesak with the Sri Lankan community and with the participation of the Diplomatic Community of Buddhist countries at the Sri Lanka Residence on 01 June, 2024. The celebrations included Buddha Vandana, a Dhamma Sermon, Chanting of Pirith, Buddhist Devotional songs and Vesak illuminations. Ven. Kurunegala Anandagosha Thero from ‘Mahamewna Asapuwa’ of the Netherlands, conducted religious activities. The staff of the Embassy, children and adults of the Sri Lankan communities living in Belgium and Luxembourg sang Buddhist devotional songs. Ambassadors of Myanmar, Nepal, India, Thailand and the Deputy Chiefs of Mission of Pakistan and Japan attended the ceremony with over 150 Sri Lankans in Belgium and Luxembourg. A large Vesak lantern with of 21 satellites, created by the staff of the Embassy, was a spectacular attraction and a new experience for all participants, probably for the first time in Belgium.
