Sri Lanka Embassy Brussels launches tourism promotion campaign in Luxembourg

Sri Lanka Embassy Brussels, which is accredited to Luxembourg, launched a tourism promotion campaign with a “Visit Sri Lanka” evening reception at the Betrange Tennis Club in Luxembourg on 27th June 2019. The event was organized in collaboration with travel and tour operators in Luxembourg and Turkish Airlines. It was attended by over 150 Luxembourgish citizens from the corporate sector including bankers, fund managers, IT professionals and leading businessmen.

The Charge d’Affaires of the Embassy Mr. Maxwell Keegel speaking on the occasion said Sri Lanka was completely safe for visitors and elaborated on the convenient connections to Colombo via Istanbul, the Middle East, London and Amsterdam and the traditional and nontraditional tourism products that are available for an enjoyable and value for money trip to Sri Lanka. He spoke of Sri Lanka’s cultural diversity with amazing festivals and pageants as well as the country’s unique cuisine influenced by various cultures. Mr. Keegel also spoke of Sri Lanka’s rich bio-diversity and eco friendly environment. Mr. Joshua Dhur, CEO of Day One, a leading travel company in Luxembourg shared his experience about his unforgettable visits to Sri Lanka.

The gala evening reception included a spectacular performance by a Sri Lanka dance troupe that performed dances from different regions of Sri Lanka, a Sri Lankan buffet with live food stations demonstrating the preparation of Sri Lankan delicacies, a raffle draw with fantastic prizes including return air tickets sponsored by Turkish Airlines and free accommodation vouchers from leading hotels in Sri Lanka. A video presentation on Sri Lanka was screened. The Charge d’Affaires was accompanied by Mr. Madhawa Senanayake, Second Secretary of the Embassy and the Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Luxembourg Mr. Dirk Van Der Ploeg.

The Embassy is organizing a series of promotional events in Belgium and Luxembourg as part of its “Visit Sri Lanka” campaign in collaboration with local partners under the leadership of Sri Lanka’s Ambassador Ms. Grace Asirwatham.
